He used his skills as a building contractor and his ability to speak multiple languages to deceive his victims. Despite inquiries into the disappearances, Boggia managed to evade suspicion for over a decade. When he was eventually caught and sentenced to death by hanging. The resulting execution was one of the last public hangings in Italy.
